Bryan regularly shares how his life has been shaped by a lifelong battle with severe anxiety and a foundational calling to serve Christ and His church. His early career as a professor of Clinical Psychology allowed him to train others in understanding and addressing mental health challenges. Bryan became a Christian after beginning his work as a professor and quickly developed a related burden for pastoral ministry. Upon receiving tenure, the Lord called him to a second career as a church planter and then senior pastor in Boston, Massachusetts. Burdened for the complex mental health issues facing the church, Bryan partnered with Harbor Christian Counseling to develop the CMHP. He regularly helps church leaders navigate mental health challenges with Biblical wisdom, compassion, and practical tools, creating communities where people can find both healing and hope.
“Bryan is the rare person who has the heart and theological training of a pastor, wedded to the expertise and skills of a counselor. He has the ability and passion to work in both spaces, and bridges the gap that is often experienced between people who only live in one of those worlds. He has helped our church and leadership toward developing a lay counseling ministry that will bless our congregation deeply and for years to come."
